Germany Says No New Threats from Middle East War, Interior Minister Dobrindt Reports

Bundes Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) has stated that, following the outbreak of war in the Middle East, there is at present no change in Germany’s security situation. Speaking in Berlin on Wednesday, he said the security authorities “keep a comprehensive eye on the situation” and therefore “there are no additional threats we currently see”. He added that this is a current assessment that could change, but “we are still operating under an abstract threat. There are no concrete threat situations that would need to be defined or recognised”.

Dobrindt went on to say that various areas are being monitored closely, with the first priority being German sites that could be regarded as vulnerable. These include American and Israeli facilities as well as Jewish institutions. He also noted that demonstrations are under close scrutiny, though he emphasised that this is not a new development.
