Germany Seeks Asylum Centers in Other Countries

German officials are advocating for the establishment of asylum processing centers located outside of the European Union, a proposal to be discussed at a meeting in Munich today. Alexander Dobrindt, the Federal Minister of the Interior, has indicated his intention to propose a coordinated implementation with EU member states already supportive of the concept.

Speaking to Bild newspaper, Minister Dobrindt emphasized the need for clarity, consistency and control within European migration policy. He described these potential facilities as “Return Hubs” asserting that they represent an innovative approach to managing asylum claims and ensuring the departure of individuals without a right to remain in Europe.

Specific nations considered suitable for hosting these centers remain unconfirmed, as Dobrindt has not yet identified potential host countries. The proposal aims to explore alternative processing routes and address ongoing challenges related to migration flows within the EU.
