Germany Shatters All-Time Heat Record in Scorching Weather Streak

In Germany, the all-time heat record, which had been set the previous day, was broken again. Around 4:00 PM, the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) station in Coschen, Brandenburg, near the Polish border, reported a temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius.

This marks the third consecutive day a new temperature high has been measured. On Friday, a previous high of 41.3 degrees was recorded in Saarbrücken, followed by 41.5 degrees in Drewitz, Saxony-Anhalt, on Saturday. Prior to this streak, the recognized German heat records were 41.2 degrees, measured on July 25, 2019, in both Duisburg-Baerl and Tönisvorst, figures that had stood for nearly seven years.
