Bundesfamilienministerin Karin Prien (CDU) announced a federal campaign to warn about the dangers of social media. “As the federal government we will launch a large public‑awareness campaign alongside the introduction of the age limit, highlighting the risks and hazards of social‑media use-much like the campaigns for alcohol or nicotine consumption” she told “Focus”.
The government is also looking into involving pediatricians more actively in this education effort. “We are considering sensitizing pediatricians so that they can point out these dangers to parents during routine check‑ups” Prien added. “I am in discussion with the Federal Ministry of Health on this”.
