Germany Urges Heightened Vigilance Amid Threat from Iranian Revolutionary Guard Factions

Jürgen Hardt, the foreign‑policy spokesman for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, warned of an increased threat from supporters of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. He told the television networks RTL and ntv that there are people in Germany who could create trouble for the country and that security services should keep a close eye on them. Hardt said that public venues and Jewish institutions are presently at risk and called for “extra vigilance in the coming days”.

Konstantin von Notz, the deputy chair of the Parliamentary Control Committee on intelligence (PKGr) and a member of the Greens, also urged a tightening of security measures in Germany. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, he noted that the weekend events had “moved the already huge security challenges to a higher level”. Von Notz stressed the importance of remaining alert.

He called on the federal government to:

” Implement all necessary security precautions.
” Effectively reduce Iranian intelligence activity in Germany.
” Ensure the safety of everyone living in the country-whether exiled Iranians, German soldiers, or people of Jewish faith.
” Maintain close cooperation with international partners.

Von Notz applauded the already heightened protection of Jewish institutions and added that defence of Bundeswehr personnel, barracks and property must be updated for new threats. He added that we must continue doing everything we can to safeguard all residents from the operatives of the Mullah regime, which he described as “unpredictable” at present.
