German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul embarked on a visit to Kyiv on Monday, underscoring the nation’s critical importance to European security and values. Upon arrival, Minister Wadephul stated that the unfolding events in Ukraine represent a defining moment for Europe, determining whether it remains a continent upholding freedom and human dignity or one shaped by the shifting boundaries of aggression.
He emphasized that Ukraine is not only defending its own sovereignty and freedom but also safeguarding the security and freedom of Europe as a whole against Russia’s actions. As such, Germany will maintain its focus on supporting Ukraine, he affirmed.
Minister Wadephul reiterated Germany’s unwavering commitment to stand by Ukraine’s side, pledging continued assistance encompassing modern air defense systems, weaponry, humanitarian aid and economic support. This commitment, he stated, represents the core principle guiding his visit to Kyiv.
