Germany’s Women’s Euros Exit Draws Huge Viewership

The German national women’s football team’s semi-final exit from the European Championship drew a substantial television audience, marking a significant viewership for the broadcast. An average of 14.26 million viewers tuned in to watch the match against Spain on the main public broadcaster, beginning at 9:00 PM.

This level of viewership translated to a market share of 57.6 percent, demonstrating a considerable draw for the game. During the half-time news program, “Tagesthemen” an additional 13.27 million viewers remained engaged, securing a market share of 50.4 percent.

These figures represent an increase compared to the 12.19 million viewers who watched the 2022 European Championship semi-final between Germany and France. While that match also saw the German team reach the final, where a reported 17.9 million viewers watched their defeat to England, this latest audience suggests continued and growing interest in women’s football in Germany.
