Gladbach Fires Coach Seoane

Borussia Mönchengladbach has announced the immediate departure of head coach Gerardo Seoane. The Bundesliga club confirmed the decision on Monday, marking an abrupt end to his tenure which began at the start of the 2023/24 season.

U23 coach Eugen Polanski will assume interim management responsibilities until a permanent replacement is found. Sporting Director Roland Virkus explained the decision followed a thorough review of the team’s performances. “After ten Bundesliga games spanning last season and the current one without a win, we’ve come to the conclusion that a change in the head coach position is necessary” Virkus stated.

Club President Rainer Bonhof acknowledged Seoane’s efforts, stating he inherited the team during a challenging period and made progress in developing and stabilizing the squad. “However, the end of last season and the start of this one did not unfold as we had hoped” Bonhof added.

Gladbach currently occupies third from last place in the Bundesliga standings after three matchdays, having failed to score a single goal. The team suffered a heavy 0-4 defeat against Werder Bremen in their most recent home match.
