After the FDP was removed from the state parliaments in Stuttgart and Mainz, Green Party leader Franziska Brantner addressed former FDP voters. Speaking to ”Welt” in its Wednesday edition, she noted that liberalism seems to be in trouble given the new compositions of the state parliaments in Baden‑Württemberg and Rhineland‑Palatinate. “These four‑party cabinets-CDU, Greens, SPD and AfD-are reshaping Germany” she said.
Brantner added that everyone should want to see strong defenders of liberal democracy, a system where the state does not overreach and citizens take responsibility. “It’s not only former Green leader Cem Özdemir who has repeatedly called on former FDP voters; I am doing the same” she concluded.
