Andreas Audretsch, a leading figure within Germany’s Green Party parliamentary group, has commended the federal government’s efforts to maintain a unified European front in pursuing peace in Ukraine.
Speaking to RTL and ntv television networks, Audretsch highlighted the importance of strong coordination, not only with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, but also with France, the United Kingdom, NATO and the European Commission. He emphasized that such cohesion is crucial to project a credible and effective message.
Audretsch acknowledged the likelihood of escalating military action, referencing past patterns of behaviour from President Putin and asserted the necessity of a similarly unified response. He stated that should escalation occur, Europe must stand together.
Looking ahead, Audretsch urged continued European solidarity and suggested seeking further collaboration with the United States, particularly in light of the scheduled discussion between former President Trump and President Putin. He underscored that a united approach is essential to navigating the ongoing situation.
