Franziska Brantner, chairperson of the Green party, has called for severe sanctions against Israel’s Minister of Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir. Speaking to Politico, she requested that the German government impose an entry ban on the minister and push for similar sanctions to be enacted at the European level. Brantner characterized Ben-Gvir’s comments as “deeply disturbing and inhumane,” adding that “we must draw a clear line here.”
Brantner noted that this is not the first time Ben-Gvir has been involved in “terrifying calls for violence against Palestinians.” She emphasized that Germany needs to join several European nations-including the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, and Belgium-which have already imposed sanctions against him. According to Brantner, “it is time for Germany to follow those states.”
