A 22-year-old was shot and injured on Friday evening in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, specifically on Graefestraße. According to reports from RBB, the injured man was taken to a hospital.
A large police presence was deployed to the scene, and the area around the corner of Graefestraße and Böckhstraße was cordoned off. The perpetrators are currently at large.
This incident is part of a pattern of recent violence in the Graefekiez. In March, two men shot a 23-year-old who was walking on the sidewalk of Graefestraße with an associate; the 23-year-old sustained serious injuries, and the assailants fled the scene.
Further escalations in the area occurred in May when the State Criminal Police Office’s 7th Murder Unit took over investigations following a shooting incident where an unknown individual fired at a car while riding a scooter in the same neighborhood. Soon after that event, shots were also fired in the direction of Hermannplatz on Urbanstraße, as well as in front of a local in Reinickendorf.
