Shots were fired outside the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday. According to several Turkish media outlets, the incident involved a shootout between security forces and a group of at least three assailants. Reports confirm that at least one of the attackers was killed, while two other perpetrators and two police officers sustained injuries.
The exact motivations behind the confrontation were initially unclear. Sources indicated that the assailants were armed with long guns. Due to the permanent armed police presence surrounding the Israeli Consulate in the Turkish metropolis, the attackers were reportedly unable to penetrate the building.
