Left Party Bundestag member Gregor Gysi has rejected accusations of racism issued by his party’s Federal Working Group on Migrant Left (BAG Migrantische Linke).
“Anyone who knows a little about my life and work understands that the racism allegation against me is so absurd that I have nothing more to add” he told the newspaper “Welt” and offered the accusers a conversation to gauge their interest.
After Gysi criticized Israel‑related antisemitism among new left members with a specific migration background in a podcast, the BAG wrote to him accusing him of reproducing a “racist threat scenario” and asked him to participate “in a timely manner” in an anti‑racism training.
