Federal Health Minister Carsten Linnemann (CDU) is advocating for a significant strengthening of home care services. Speaking to the Rheinische Post before the first Bundestag consultation on the new Care Regulation Act, he stated that his primary objective is to alleviate the burden on families who are affected by care needs.
Furthermore, Linnemann stressed that the need for care should be avoided or postponed as much as possible. He suggested that this could be achieved by investing more in prevention, advice, and rehabilitation services. He argued that having more healthy life years translates directly into better quality of life, increased personal freedom, and more time spent with parents and grandchildren.
Drawing on his personal experience with home care within his own family, Linnemann emphasized that he understands how diverse care situations can be. He noted that every family has its own unique story and set of concerns.
