The fire department association is issuing warnings about the increasing danger of vegetation fires across Germany due to the ongoing heatwave. According to a spokeswoman speaking to the “Rheinische Post” on Friday, despite some rainfall, there are still significant deficits in ground moisture. She emphasized the need for caution regarding open fires, such as grilling, especially when there is strong local wind. Furthermore, people are warned not to discard items like cigarettes that might still be smoldering in the area, and the fundamental prohibition against smoking or starting fires in forests must be observed. Anyone venturing into nature should also refrain from parking cars with hot exhaust systems near dry, tall brush.
