Tragedy struck in Netphen-Irmgarteichen overnight as a house fire resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Local authorities, the Siegen-Wittgenstein District Police Department, confirmed the fatalities.

The incident began around 1:19 AM on Friday when a neighbor reported a blaze at a residence on Koblenzer Straße. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the single-family home engulfed in flames. Firefighters managed to extract one resident, a 76-year-old man, from the upper floor. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A woman was discovered deceased on the ground floor; her identity has not yet been officially released.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is currently under investigation. Due to the extensive damage, a structural assessment of the property is necessary before further examination can proceed. Preliminary estimates place the property damage exceeding €200,000. The Criminal Police Department has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
