IAEA Confirms Fresh Damage to Iran’s Natanz Uranium Plant After U.S./Israeli Strikes

Amid the Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran, new damage has apparently been inflicted on the underground uranium‑enrichment complex in Natanz.

Using the most recent satellite imagery, the IAEA announced on Tuesday that it can confirm some recently‑created damage to the entrance buildings of the underground Iranian enrichment facility-often referred to as the Natanz fuel‑enrichment plant (FEP). The agency noted that no radiological consequences are expected and that no additional damage was detected at the plant itself, which suffered severe damage in June of last year.

IAEA Director‑General Rafael Grossi had previously called for “extreme restraint” in all military operations in the region. He warned that the nuclear‑security risk is heightened because several Middle Eastern states involved in the current conflict possess nuclear technology.
