An Indonesian UN blue‑helmet soldier was killed in Lebanon when a projectile detonated near a UN position. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the incident.
The event occurred on a Sunday close to the town of Adchit al‑Qusayr, when a projectile exploded in the vicinity of a UN post. Three other Indonesian soldiers sustained injuries.
The UN mission, UNIFIL, said the origin of the projectile was unknown and had launched an investigation to determine the circumstances. Indonesia strongly condemned the attack and demanded a full explanation. It emphasized that the safety of UN peacekeepers must always be guaranteed.
