Infratest Poll Reveals Union 28% Ahead of AfD 23% in Sunday Vote Scenario, SPD Drops to 14% – Union Urges Clear Distinction from AfD.

According to a recent Infratest poll conducted with 1,317 eligible voters for the ARD between Monday and Wednesday this week, the Sunday‑election scenario would see the CDU/CSU bloc standing at 28 %-an increase of two percentage points compared to early February. The AfD would be on 23 %, down one point, while the SPD would fall to 14 %, also a one‑point drop. The Greens would climb to 13 % (up one point), the Left to 9 % (down one), and the BSW to 4 % (up one). All other parties combined, including the FDP, would gather 9 % (down one).

“Approval of the federal government”

– 25 % of respondents express a high or moderate satisfaction with the work of the federal cabinet; this is a four‑point increase from February.
– 73 % are less or not at all satisfied with the work of the Union-SPD coalition.
– Only 19 % rate the cooperation between the coalition parties positively; 76 % see it as inadequate.
By comparison, when the coalition was still the previous “traffic‑light” government in May 2024, only 10 % were satisfied with its internal working relationship and 85 % were dissatisfied.

– 18 % are satisfied with the substantive achievements of the Union-SPD coalition, 79 % are dissatisfied.
In May 2024 the figures were 25 % satisfaction and 71 % dissatisfaction.

“Communication of government policy”

– 16 % are currently satisfied with how the government explains and disseminates its policies; 82 % are not satisfied.
– For the former traffic‑light coalition in May 2024, 11 % were satisfied and 85 % were not.
