Iran has reportedly launched a series of intensive shooting drills toward the Strait of Hormuz. According to multiple Iranian state‑run media outlets, rockets were fired from land bases, along the coast, and from islands, striking their intended targets within the strait.
Earlier in the week, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps began a maneuver early Monday morning that spanned the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman. These waters are vital international shipping lanes, carrying about 20 % of global oil transport.
The new activity comes at the same time that the second round of indirect talks between the United States and Iran over Iran’s nuclear program has begun.
