Responding to a military strike by Israel and the United States, Iran fired rockets and drones toward Israel. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard described the launch as retaliation for what they called the “aggression of the hostile and criminal enemy”. Israel’s air‑defence systems were activated, according to the Israeli military.
In Tehran, explosions were reported in the city centre, sparking panic among residents and prompting many to flee the capital. Similar blasts were also noticed on the outskirts of Isfahan, where a nuclear facility-targeted last year-is located.
Previously, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said Israel had carried out a “pre‑emptive strike” to neutralise threats from Tehran. U.S. President Donald Trump announced a large‑scale military operation against Iran and reiterated that the United States would never possess an atomic weapon.
