Iran Launches Drone and Rocket Assault on German Military Installations in Iraq and Jordan Amid US‑Israel Strike

Iran has reportedly also targeted German military bases in Iraq and Jordan as part of its response to the U.S. and Israeli attacks. According to “Spiegel”, since Saturday morning several Iranian rockets and drones were fired at a multinational base near Erbil Airport in northern Iraq and at a German field camp in al‑Azraq in eastern Jordan. The most recent strike took place on Sunday morning. All of the missiles and drones were reportedly intercepted by air‑defence systems, but a U.S. soldier was slightly injured by falling debris.

The German armed forces had already been on alert for Iranian retaliation even before the U.S.‑Israeli airstrikes began early Saturday. In northern Iraq, where German troops help train local security forces, German personnel have been reduced to an absolute minimum. Authorities plan to further lower the number of German soldiers in Jordan as soon as it is safe to do so.
