Israel launched air strikes on several targets in Syria overnight on Friday. According to the Israeli Defense Forces, a command center and weapons at government military facilities in southern Syria were hit.
Israel said the attack was carried out after civilians from the Druze community in Syria were allegedly targeted. The forces added that they would not tolerate attacks on the Druze minority and would continue to “fight for their protection”.
Since the start of the war, Israeli strikes in the region have largely focused on Iran and the Hezbollah infrastructure it supports in Lebanon.
