Israel’s ambassador Ron Prosor says that no concrete plan exists for what should happen after a potential overthrow of the Iranian regime. In an interview on POLITICO’s Berlin Playbook Podcast he explained that there is currently no clear answer to the question of who would lead a new Iran, and that the most important goal is simply to see the regime disappear.
He emphasized Israel’s strategy of tightening the regime’s capabilities, describing the effort as an attempt to weaken the Revolutionary Guard (“the attempt is really to weaken them”). Prosor noted that any real change must come from within, arguing that the Iranian people are “really enough and want freedom”.
Regarding Germany’s involvement, Prosor highlighted the significance of Germany’s decision to classify the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization, describing that designation as “hugely important”.
