Israel’s IAI Offers Germany Arrow 3, Promising Robust Shield Against Russian Missiles

Israeli defence contractor Aerospace Industries of Israel (IAI) has pledged to shield Germany from Russian rockets with the Arrow 3 system. “You will sleep more peacefully in Munich and Berlin” Boaz Levy, head of IAI, told Handelsblatt.

Germany has ordered the system for 3.6 billion euros. It has been stationed in Germany since the end of 2025 and is expected to be fully operational by 2030. The company has collaborated with U.S. industry on Arrow 3 for 30 years.

The system first saw combat last summer during the war between Iran and the Houthi rebels in Yemen, where it intercepted more than 90 % of the medium‑range rockets fired at Israel. IAI plans to incorporate those lessons into the German version and to ensure that Germany always receives the latest capabilities, including defence against hypersonic missiles. “We are always two steps ahead of the enemy” Levy said.

IAI sees further opportunities for sales. “Germany is among Israel’s closest allies and shares the same values and the mission to protect civilian populations in both countries” Levy added.

Until now, German supplies have largely focused on Israel’s security, such as the export of advanced submarines. Though the German government recently suspended part of its weapons exports to Israel amid the Gaza war, the delivery of Arrow 3 marks an important addition to Germany’s defence.
