Julia Simic, a TV expert and former national player, offered her analysis on the volatile coaching situation at Eintracht Frankfurt. Speaking to the portal “Absolut Fussball” from Ippen-Media, she suggested that the outgoing coach, Albert Riera, lacked the necessary support from both the fans and the squad. Simic commented that when doubts about the team becoming “a circus” arise just one or two weeks into the season, the observers themselves contribute to that perception.
Having been part of the club until the winter period, Simic now assesses Riera’s appointment as a failure. While the club desired a more assertive and dominating coach following the Toppmöller era, those expectations were ultimately unmet.
On a more positive note, Simic cited VfB Stuttgart under Sebastian Hoeneß as an example of successful management, pointing out that the team maintained continuity despite numerous departures and successfully qualified for international competition once again. Conversely, she labeled VfL Wolfsburg’s relegation as the biggest surprise of the season, arguing that the team’s individual talent level should have been sufficient to avoid dropping into the lower division.
