Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU) will announce a date by mid‑March for convening the Federal Convention in 2027. The announcement came from a spokesperson for the German Bundestag, who told the newspaper “Bild” on Tuesday.
The reason for setting the date early is that both the Bundestag and the state parliaments need sufficient time to begin their planning for the Convention afterward. In practice, the Convention is scheduled to meet within a window of 30 days to eight weeks before the current presidential term expires.
