Kretschmer Promises Aid After Severe Storm Claims Life and Damages Saxon Switzerland

Following severe weather in the Sächsische Schweiz (Saxon Switzerland), which resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, Saxon Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) pledged swift assistance to those affected at the scene. After visiting the disaster area in Rathen on Saturday, he stated, “We will not leave the people here alone. We will help manage the damage and support the region.” The CDU politician also expressed optimism that the Rathen rock theater would soon begin performing again. He added that the Sächsische Schweiz represents a community that sticks together during difficult times and looks toward the future collaboratively. The storm on Friday killed a 38-year-old man who was struck by a tree. In total, 13 people sustained injuries, and significant damage occurred across many popular tourist destinations.
