Left Party to Demonstrate Sept 27th

Berlin is set to host separate demonstrations concerning the situation in Gaza on September 27th, with The Left party (“Die Linke”) planning its own event distinct from the already scheduled “All Eyes on Gaza – Stop the Genocide” protest organized by the Palestinian Community and others.

Janis Ehling, federal managing director of The Left, confirmed to the “Rheinische Post” that the party’s demonstration will be held in conjunction with a broader alliance of groups, with details to be announced at a later date. The intention, according to party leadership, is to coordinate complementary actions on the same day.

Ines Schwerdtner, co-chair of The Left, emphasized the ambition to organize a “very broad demonstration” led by a coalition intended to give prominence to both Palestinian and Jewish voices, rather than being solely directed by the party itself.

Schwerdtner also clarified The Left’s position regarding a separate Gaza demonstration scheduled for September 13th, spearheaded by Sahra Wagenknecht. She stated the party will not participate, characterizing Wagenknecht’s initiative as a solo endeavor and highlighting The Left’s intention to pursue independent strategies and engage a wider spectrum of constituents.
