Leipzig vs Wolfsburg Trade Goals in 2‑2 Bundesliga Thriller

In the 22nd round of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg went to the final whistle with a 2-2 draw.

The game started aggressively, with Leipzig putting pressure on the visiting side early on. Several dangerous attempts-including a back‑flip by Conrad Harder in the 19th minute and a powerful cross from Brajan Gruda-gave the visitors too many chances to take the lead, but Wolfsburg’s defender Saël Kumbedi cleared the corner in the 43rd minute.

Wolfsburg’s keeper, Kamil Grabara, had an excellent day, notably saving a close‑range shot from Gruda in the 41st minute that would have been a goal. With limited chances out wide, the Wolfsburg attackers struggled, although Mikkel Eriksen’s long‑range effort in the 8th minute narrowly missed the target.

The picture shifted after the break. In the 52nd minute, Mohamed Amoura capitalised on a neat assist from Adam Daghim to slot the ball into the lower left corner, giving Wolfsburg an unexpected first goal.

Leipzig responded promptly, proving unwilling to let the game slip away. In the 70th minute, Yan Diomande benefited from a mistake by Grabara; the keeper mis‑handled a ball from Gruda after a kickoff and the ball was placed into the penalty area for Diomande to finish calmly, levelising 1-1.

Wolfsburg answered again in the 78th minute, when Mattias Svanberg found the net after a quick combination. With the ball delivered past Leipzig’s goalkeeper Vandevoort, he slipped past the keeper and sent the ball into the far top corner, restoring the Wolf’s 2-1 advantage.

The final phase of the match belonged to Leipzig. In the 89th minute, Brajan Gruda produced a spectacular long‑range shot from the right penalty‑area corner: he flicked the ball with his left foot into the top left corner, earning a dramatic 2-2 draw.

In the last minutes, Leipzig pushed for a winner, but Wolfsburg defended tenaciously. A late effort from Rômulo in the 90th minute, following a cross from Gruda, skated over the bar, making it the game’s final big chance.

The result was a fair and tense contest, with Leipzig controlling much of the first half but failing to convert their chances, while Wolfsburg displayed strong second‑half resilience to earn two late equalisers. Both teams can commend their performances: Leipzig can take pride in the determination shown, and Wolfsburg has gained a much‑needed point in their fight against relegation.
