Left Party MP Cansin Köktürk received two consecutive requests for order during the current Bundestag session before storming out of the plenary hall in anger.
The confrontation took place during a heated debate concerning the Labour Ministry’s budget. Köktürk interrupted AfD speaker René Springer, who was elaborating on how his party planned to deal with individuals who continued to receive social benefits despite existing arrest warrants. After Köktürk shouted, “What is this racist bullshit,” a sharp exchange began with Bundestag Vice President Andrea Lindholz (CSU), who initially warned Köktürk and then issued an official request for order.
When Springer continued his speech, Köktürk loudly accused the session chair, Lindholz, of protecting “the fascists,” prompting a second request for order. Köktürk subsequently left the session amidst loud shouting, shortly followed by several other Left Party MPs.
While Lindholz noted that “We allow the colleague to leave this session hall,” this was not a formal expulsion. A true expulsion is only issued after a third request for order within a single session. Furthermore, accumulating three requests for order across three session weeks results in a fine of 2,000 euros, which doubles to 4,000 euros in the event of a repeat infraction.
