Lufthansa Pilots Strike Monday and Tuesday Over Contract Disputes

The Cockpit Union has called for a strike targeting the flight crew of the Lufthansa Group. According to the trade union, the strike will affect Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Lufthansa Cargo AG, Lufthansa CityLine GmbH, and Eurowings GmbH. This industrial action is scheduled to run from 12:01 AM on April 13, 2026, until 11:59 PM on April 14, 2026. Travel to the Near East has been exempted from this strike.

The Cockpit Union stated that the strike was deemed necessary because the employers have shown no willingness to resolve labor disputes on several fronts. Despite the union forgoing strike action over the Easter holidays, no substantial offers have been presented. Significant disagreements remain, particularly concerning company pension plans and wage agreement contracts.

Andreas Pinheiro, president of the Cockpit Union, maintained that the union remains open to discussion. He suggested that the employers could avert the strike at any time by submitting negotiable proposals. Pinheiro emphasized that a strike always represents the last resort to generate momentum in failed negotiations.
