Magdeburg Overcomes Bochum in Crucial 2. Bundesliga Victory Boost

First FC Magdeburg secured an important 4-1 victory against VfL Bochum during the 28th matchday of the second Bundesliga. Their early lead came in the 7th minute when Lubambo Musonda scored with a header after capitalizing on a cross from Bockhorn. Before halftime, Baris Atik doubled the lead in the 56th minute, skillfully finishing a long pass from Mathisen into the top right corner.

After the break, Bochum appeared more assertive, scoring a goal in the 56th minute via Philipp Hofmann. Hofmann cleverly bypassed his marker inside the box and struck low into the left corner. However, Magdeburg remained resolute, restoring their previous lead thanks to a brace from Mateusz Zukowski in the 71st and 73rd minutes. Zukowski first netted on a counter-attack from close range, followed shortly after by a goal from just 15 yards out, following a cross from Tachie into the left corner.

Both teams made several substitutions late in the game, aiming to bring on fresh players and rest key personnel for the final stretch of the season. Despite the visitors’ efforts, the clear victory remained with Magdeburg, which gained valuable points in their relegation battle. Conversely, Bochum failed to capitalize on the match to build a greater gap with the bottom teams in the league table.

Other results from Saturday afternoon included Kaiserslautern defeating Düsseldorf 3-0, and Bielefeld beating Darmstadt 2-1.
