Berlin’s homicide squad is investigating the death of a 48-year-old man following an incident in the Mitte district. Police reported Saturday evening that the 8th Homicide Investigation Department of the State Criminal Police Office and the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office have taken over the inquiry into the suspected killing.
Shortly before noon on Saturday, a 42-year-old man presented himself at a police station, reporting that he had injured another man in an apartment located on Leipziger Straße. Emergency services responding to the scene discovered the body of the 48-year-old man within the apartment of the multi-family building. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the location.
The 42-year-old suspect is expected to appear before an investigating judge at the Tiergarten District Court on Sunday, where authorities will seek to obtain a warrant for his arrest. Investigations into the precise circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
