Merz Refreshed After Summer Break, Despite Work Interruptions

Chancellor Friedrich Merz indicated he returned from the summer break feeling refreshed, despite multiple interruptions to his holiday.

Speaking at the Federal Government’s open house event at the Chancellery on Sunday, he stated he had to travel to Berlin twice and to Washington once during his time off. However, he characterized these trips as well-prepared and necessary components of the role, further noting the efficiency of his staff. He praised the Chancellery as a “functioning government centre” representing the strengths of German civil service.

The upcoming week is set to be considerably busier for the Chancellor. According to a report by “Table Media”, an unscheduled meeting of all CDU and CSU ministers is planned for Monday afternoon, including participation from CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann and the CDU/CSU parliamentary group leader, Jens Spahn. Sources suggest the meeting will focus on initiating reforms following what has been described as a challenging start for the current administration.
