Most Germans Want Income Overview

A significant majority of Germans express a desire for a streamlined digital overview of their retirement income, according to a recent survey published today. The study reveals that approximately two-thirds (65 percent) of respondents would welcome such a consolidated digital platform, a figure that rises to 77 percent amongst those who are not yet retired.

The survey also indicates a strong appetite for digitalising the entire retirement planning process, with 46 percent of Germans stating they would prefer to manage all aspects of their retirement provisions online. This preference is even more pronounced among pre-retirees, with 55 percent expressing a desire for full online access.

Increasingly, individuals are also open to exploring new digital advisory services. The survey found that 42 percent of Germans would be willing to receive retirement planning advice from artificial intelligence based on their personal circumstances. This openness is further heightened among those not yet receiving pension payments, with a majority of 53 percent indicating their willingness to consider AI-powered advice.

However, the complexity of current retirement products remains a barrier for some. A substantial 45 percent of respondents and 52 percent of those not yet retired, acknowledge that they would require assistance to navigate and purchase retirement products digitally due to their complicated nature.

The survey, conducted via telephone interviews, encompassed a representative sample of 1,003 individuals aged 16 and over across Germany during the period of April 1st to April 16th, 2025. Of those surveyed, 674 were not yet retired or in receipt of a pension.
