A newly formed Investment and Innovation Advisory Council convened on Monday at the Federal Ministry of Finance, marking the start of its mandate. Established by Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil, the council’s primary objective is to ensure the rapid and targeted deployment of funds from the special asset fund, maximizing their impact.

Harald Christ, a prominent entrepreneur, has been appointed as the council’s chairman. Ann-Kristin Achleitner, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial and Financial Studies at the Technical University of Munich, will serve as vice chair. Hiltrud Dorothea Werner, former member of the Volkswagen AG Board of Directors, joins the council as a further member.

Minister Klingbeil emphasized the importance of not only rectifying past shortcomings but also leveraging investments to foster innovation, thereby modernizing and strengthening the nation. He stressed the urgency of efficient and targeted implementation, highlighting the need for enhanced speed and efficiency.

Council Chairman Harald Christ underscored the significant opportunity presented by the record-level federal investments to stimulate growth and modernize Germany. He advocated for a synergy between public and private investment to bolster the competitiveness of the German economy and mobilize the nation’s innovative capabilities, with focused investment in research and development.
