Bayer 04 Leverkusen is poised to appoint a new head coach following the recent dismissal of Erik ten Hag. According to reports from “Kicker”, Kasper Hjulmand is set to take the reins at the Bundesliga club.
Sources indicate a preliminary agreement has been reached and Hjulmand is expected to finalize his contract with the Werkself in the coming days, although the precise timing remains unconfirmed.
Ten Hag was relieved of his duties after just two matchdays, following a difficult start to the season compounded by reported internal issues. Hjulmand previously gained experience in the Bundesliga, having served as coach of 1. FSV Mainz 05 from 2014 to 2015. He most recently held the position of manager of the Danish national team from 2020 to 2024.
