Following her departure from the Federal Ministry of Construction, former Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD) is set to assume a prominent new role. According to reporting in Bild, Geywitz is expected to become Vice-President of the Federal Audit Court (Bundesrechnungshof).
Sources within the governing coalition and government circles indicate that the federal government intends to propose Geywitz for the position. The formal nomination is anticipated in the near future. The role has been vacant since January.
The appointment, however, requires approval from both the Bundestag (Federal Parliament) and the Bundesrat (Federal Council, representing the states), though its success is widely considered highly probable.
