Following her departure from the Federal Ministry of Construction, former Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD) is set to assume a prominent new role. According to reporting in Bild, Geywitz is expected to become Vice-President of the Federal Audit Court (Bundesrechnungshof).
Sources within the governing coalition and government circles indicate that the federal government intends to propose Geywitz for the position. The formal nomination is anticipated in the near future. The role has been vacant since January.
The appointment, however, requires approval from both the Bundestag (Federal Parliament) and the Bundesrat (Federal Council, representing the states), though its success is widely considered highly probable.
Information from coalition sources highlights Geywitz’s considerable expertise in financial auditing. Prior to her tenure as Minister, she served as Head of Audit Area at the Brandenburg State Audit Court, a role that lends significant weight to her candidacy.
