Despite a resolution at the CDU party conference, Federal Health Minister Nina Warken has said she does not currently plan to push for the abolition of telephone sickness certifications within the coalition.
She told the broadcasters RTL and ntv that the coalition agreement contains provisions to curb abuse in online sickness certification platforms, not to eliminate the telephone option altogether.
Warken explained that the agreement states the aim is to reduce misuse; her interpretation is that the SPD will cooperate on this point.
“There’s no clause saying the telephone sickness certification will be abolished-rather, it says abuse will be restrained” she added.
