Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport anticipates no significant delays to ongoing motorway projects across the country.
A ministry spokesperson confirmed in Berlin on Wednesday that current projects and ongoing tenders will continue as planned. “We are in close communication with Autobahn GmbH to ensure everything is handled according to the needs that arise” the spokesperson stated.
The ministry expects no “noticeable delays” to the overall program. However, the spokesperson refrained from commenting on individual projects, citing the ongoing nature of budgetary negotiations for the years 2025 and 2026.
Reports emerged earlier this week suggesting potential halts to work on the A14 and A143 motorways in the states of Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg due to funding concerns. While the German Bundestag’s Budget Committee recently approved short-term funding for bridge and road repair projects, this allocation does not extend to new construction initiatives.
