Noah Kahan Tops German Albums as Michael Jackson Powers Music Charts Revival

According to data released by GfK on Monday, the US singer-songwriter Noah Kahan currently leads the official German album charts with his album, “The Great Divide”. Following Kahan are established bands Foo Fighters, whose album “Your Favorite Toy” ranks second, and BTS, with “Arirang” taking third place.

The charts are currently seeing a revival for Michael Jackson’s music, largely due to the success of the biopic “Michael”. The film’s soundtrack has landed at position six, and the King of Pop has six other albums represented in the Top 100. Chart classics such as “Thriller” (at number nine) and “Bad” (at number twenty-five) are among the top entries. His singles are also charting, including “Billie Jean” (at number sixteen), “Beat It” (at number thirty-two), “They Don’t Care About Us” (at number seventy), and “Dirty Diana” (at number ninety-one).

In the single charts, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj are taking the top spot with “Beauty And A Beat” beating out submissions from Tame Impala-“Dracula”-and Zara Larsson’s “Lush Life”.

The official German charts are compiled by GfK Entertainment on behalf of the German Music Industry Association and account for 90 percent of all music sales.
