North Korea launched another ballistic missile near the scheduled military drill between the United States and South Korea, according to statements from Seoul. The South Korean military confirmed this occurred, making it the second such launch in just a few days.
The missile was fired around 6 a.m. from the Wonsan area on the east coast and is estimated to have traveled over 700 kilometers. Sources indicate that intelligence agencies from South Korea and the U.S. tracked the launch from the beginning and shared information with Japan.
The South Korean military stated that it is closely monitoring North Korea’s activities and maintaining the capacity and readiness to respond to any provocation. This latest launch took place just six days after a short-range missile was fired in the same direction.
