NRW Minister Praises NDR’s Choice After Anchor Exit

The debate surrounding the departure of Julia Ruhs from the “Klar” reportage magazine at NDR and the subsequent selection of her replacement has drawn a conciliatory response from North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister for Media, Nathanael Liminski (CDU).

Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” Liminski emphasized his long-standing advocacy for internal diversity within the editorial teams of ARD and ZDF. He asserted that publicly funded programming carries a particular responsibility to prioritize authentic diversity and political balance. Liminski characterized the NDR’s decision to expand the “Klartext” presenting team – incorporating established journalist Tanit Koch in the NDR version alongside Julia Ruhs’s previous role in the BR edition – as a “wise decision and a positive signal.

“Only when a broad spectrum of life experiences and perspectives are represented can public broadcasting maintain credibility and acceptance across society” Liminski stated, underscoring the importance of inclusivity in maintaining the integrity of public service media.
