Newcastle United has secured the immediate transfer of German international forward Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart, both clubs confirmed Saturday.
Woltemade will wear the number 27 shirt for the Premier League side. The player expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating, “I am really happy to be here at this great club. From the first contact, I felt the club really wanted me and has big plans for me”. He continued, “It’s a big step in my life to leave Germany, but everyone has welcomed me so warmly that I already feel like part of the family. After speaking with the head coach, I have a good feeling this is the right place for me to perform at my best.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe commented, “We are delighted to have secured Nick so quickly. He fits the profile of the attacking options we were looking for.
Details regarding the transfer fee have not been officially disclosed, although reports suggest a sum of up to 90 million euros was involved. Unconfirmed sources also indicate Woltemade’s annual salary will be in the range of seven to nine million euros.
Newcastle United is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund. The club is preparing to compete in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League during the 2025/26 season.
Woltemade joined VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer from SV Werder Bremen in the summer of 2024. He made a total of 36 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing three assists. The 23-year-old was Stuttgart’s top scorer in the recent 2024/25 DFB-Pokal competition with five goals, contributing significantly to the team’s triumph in the national cup competition. His contract with Stuttgart was originally set to run until June 30, 2028.
