00 PM today following a bomb threat.. City Mayor Dieter Reiter announced the closure, stating the threat is connected to a fire earlier this morning in northern Munich. Police have confirmed the fire, which engulfed a single-family home, resulted in at least one fatality and the discovery of improvised explosive devices.
A significant emergency response involving fire and police services is currently underway in the Lerchenau district. Specialized units have been deployed to carefully disarm the explosive devices found at the scene. Mayor Reiter emphasized that authorities are taking the threat, communicated via a letter believed to be from the same individual responsible for the fire, extremely seriously. He explained that the risk posed by the situation is deemed too great to allow the Oktoberfest to continue operating. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
