Overcrowded Bus Plunges into Gorge, Killing Dozens in Southwest Pakistan Tragedy

A severe bus accident in the southwestern Pakistani province of Balochistan resulted in the death of at least 40 people on Friday. Emergency services and a government representative confirmed that eight other individuals were injured. Rescue crews reported that the bus was carrying 48 passengers in total.

The incident occurred in the Dana Sar mountainous region when the bus lost control and plummeted into a gorge estimated to be between 21 and 24 meters deep. Reports indicate that the vehicle was severely overcrowded, as it was transporting not only its own passengers but also travelers from a previously stalled bus.

Investigations into the precise cause of the disaster are currently ongoing. In response to the tragic event, Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, issued a statement expressing his profound regret over the loss of life, extending his condolences to the families of the victims, and wishing the injured a swift recovery.
