Pilots Canceled Strike Over Global Tensions, Highlighting Middle East Conflict Impact on Flight Safety and Stability.

This week, the pilots’ union Cockpit (VC) has decided to forego any industrial action. In a statement released on Monday, the union said that, against the backdrop of the current tense global political climate and the uncertainties it brings, it feels a special responsibility to maintain the stability and reliability of the aviation system.

The union singled out the conflict in the Middle East that escalated over the weekend, noting that the latest geopolitical developments have posed significant challenges for airlines, crews and passengers alike. “Under these circumstances, return flights, passenger safety, and the continuity of supplies via air freight are our top priorities” the VC added.

The wage dispute, however, remains unresolved. Cockpit clarified that it continues to monitor the situation and reassess it regularly.
