Plagiarism Allegations: Verfassungsrichterin Nominee to Respond Soon

Following recent allegations of plagiarism, Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf, nominated by the SPD party for a position as a constitutional judge, has announced she will be issuing a statement through her legal counsel on Wednesday.

During an appearance on the ZDF program “Markus Lanz” on Tuesday evening, Brosius-Gersdorf explained that her legal team was engaged immediately following the emergence of the accusations. She described feeling “derailed” upon learning of the claims early Friday morning, the day originally slated for the Bundestag vote.

“As soon as these accusations arose, we started looking for a law firm specializing in such matters” Brosius-Gersdorf stated. She added that the firm has been reviewing the allegations for several days and will release a formal statement on Wednesday. She declined to comment further on the matter at this time.

The accusations surfaced after ZDF moderator Markus Lanz presented a text passage that appears in both Brosius-Gersdorf’s academic work and a publication by her husband, prompting a direct query about potential plagiarism. The situation is currently under legal review and further details are expected to be released by her representatives.
